Welcome to Stride. We are committed to protecting your privacy and providing a safe, motivating environment for tracking your fitness journey and engaging with your friends and local athletic communities.

This Privacy Policy explains how Stride collects, uses, encrypts, and secures your information when using our Android mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide a seamless, synchronized fitness and social experience, we collect the following types of data:

A. Personal Information (Account Registration)

  • Google Account Details: When you authenticate on Stride via Google Login, we collect your name, email address, profile picture (avatar), and secure, unique Google account identifier.

  • Display Usernames: During onboarding, we create a custom handle/username to represent you in the community.

B. Health, Fitness, and Physical Activity Data (Health Connect)

  • Step Counts and Movement Metrics: Stride requests permission to access Android's Health Connect platform on your mobile device. With your explicit consent, we read your aggregated physical activity data (primarily step counts) for the current day.

  • Important Policy Compliance: All steps and health-related data retrieved via Health Connect are used solely to populate your personal progress dashboard, sync with your friends, update group leaderboards, and award milestones. We never sell, rent, or lease this health data to third-party ad networks, brokers, or data aggregators.

C. Social and App Activity Content

  • Conversations and Group Chat History: Any text messages, group queries, or chat materials uploaded inside Stride groups are securely stored in our Firestore database to enable live synchronization across your team’s chat interfaces.

  • Teammates and Group Memberships: We maintain links showing which users you are friends with or which group lists you choose to join.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your data strictly to fulfill the primary, requested functionalities of our service:

  1. Physical Progress Tracking: Displaying daily, weekly, and monthly steps, along with milestones built around healthy exercise habits.

  2. Community & Leaderboards: Showing friend step tallies on leaderboards to foster group engagement and team accountability.

  3. Social Communication: Transmitting messages inside social chats.

  4. Push & Local Notifications: Instantly alerting you on-device when dynamic physical benchmarks (such as a teammate hitting 10,000 steps) are hit or group messages arrive.

3. Data Storage and Transit Encryption

Your privacy is defended with robust, industry-standard engineering measures:

  • Transit Encryption (HTTPS/SSL): All data transferred between the Stride app, Google Sign-In portals, and Firebase/Firestore databases is encrypted in transit using industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocols.

  • Local Persistence: Step data and social profiles cached locally on your Android device are stored safely within isolated internal sandbox storage directories, shielded from other apps.

4. Third-Party Services We Use

Stride relies on premium services managed by Google to authenticate users and power live coordination:

  • Google Play Services & Google Sign-In (for secure, passwordless authentication)

  • Google Firebase Firestore & Cloud Databases (for real-time team lists and secure messaging)

  • Android Health Connect (for reading local physical activity step tallies)

5. Your Choices, Control, and Data Deletion Rights

You retain full authority over your data.

  • Revoking Health Permissions: You can change or revoke Stride’s access to Health Connect or notification permissions at any time via your Android System Settings.

  • Account and Data Deletion Requests: You have the absolute right to request the complete deletion of your Stride account, along with your chat history and steps logs from our Firestore servers. We will verify your request and securely wipe your record from all databases within 48 hours.

6. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to align with new system behaviors or Play Store regulations. We encourage users to periodically check this page for any revisions.
